(1) This is according to most of the sources consulted, except Hüls, Kardinäle, Klerus und Kirchen Roms: 1049-1130, p. 125-126, no. 2; and Klewitz, Reformpapsttum und Kardinalkolleg, p. 118, no. 23. which indicate that he first appears as a cardinal in October 1063, in the pontificate of Pope Alexander II; perhaps they confuse him with a Cardinal Ubaldo, bishop of Sabina in 1062, who died in October 1071.
(2) This is according to Klewitz, Reformpapsttum und Kardinalkolleg. Die Entstehung des Kardinalkollegiums, p. 118, no. 23, which says that his signature appears for the last time on a papal bull of that date. Cardella, Memorie storiche de' cardinali della Santa Romana Chiesa, I, pt. 1, 184; and Chacón, Vitæ, et res gestæ Pontificvm Romanorum et S. R. E. Cardinalivm, I, col. 886, no. III, say that he died in 1092. Mas Latrie, Trésor de chronologie d'histoire et de géographie, col. 1180, no. 3, says that he died in 1092 or 1093. Moroni, Dizionario di erudizione storico-ecclesiastica da S. Pietro sino ai nostri giorni, LXXXI, 493, which says that he died in 1092 but that some sources indicate that he died in 1093 because he was present at the consecration of Bishop Lambert of Arras that took place in that latter year. Pius Bonifatius Gams, Series episcoporum Ecclesiae catholicae (3 v. in 1. Graz : Akademische Druck- u. Verlagsanstalt, 1957), p. 495, says that Bishop Lambert was named to the see of Arras on July 10, 1093 and consecrated on March 19, 1094; Gams, p. XIII, lists Cardinal Ubaldo as bishop of Sabina from 1090 to 1092, without mentioning his cardinalate.
