Birth. (No date found), Bologna. Nephew or cousin of Pope Lucius II.

Education. Joined the Canons Regular of S. Maria di Reno (1).

Priesthood. Ordained (no further information found).

Cardinalate. Created cardinal priest of S. Croce in Gerusalemme in the consistory of June 1144 (1). Subscribed papal bulls issued between June 28, 1144 and February 14, 1145; March 10, 1145 and June 16, 1153; November 27, 1153 and October 15, 1154; January 20, 1155 and July 30, 1159; October 15, 1159 and September 12, 1170. Participated in the papal election of 1145, in which Pope Eugenius III was elected. Participated in the papal election of 1153, in which Pope Anastasius IV was elected. Participated in the papal election of 1154, in which Pope Adrian IV was elected. Participated in the papal election of 1159, in which Pope Alexander III was elected. He accompanied the pope in France from April 1162 and September 1165. Legate, together with four more cardinals, to the Council of Dijon in 1165, convoked against Antipope Victor IV and Emperor Friedrich I Barbarossa, who supported the schism. It seems that he was cardinal protoprete.

Death. 1171, (no place found). Buried (no information found).

Cardella, Memorie storiche de' cardinali della Santa Romana Chiesa, I, pt. 2, 51; and Chacón, Vitæ, et res gestæ Pontificvm Romanorum et S. R. E. Cardinalivm, I, 1053, say that the promotion took place in the Vigil of Pentecost of 1144.

Death. Shortly after May 20, 1146, (no place found). Buried (no information found).
