(1) 1. AUBERT, Andouin (?-1363)

Birth. (No date found), Beyssac, diocese of Limoges, France. Son of Guy Aubert, who had been ennobled by King Philippe de Valois of France in March 1338, and Marguerite de Livron. He is also listed as Andoino Alberti da Bessiaco; his first name as Audynous and Audoin; and his last name as Alberti. Nephew of Pope Innocent VI, on his father's side. Cousin of Cardinal Pierre de Monteruc (1356). Uncle of Cardinal Étienne Aubert, iuniore (1361). He was called the Cardinal of Maguelone.

Education. Obtained a doctorate in utroque iure, both canon and civil law.

Early life. After obtaining a rich prebend, Pope Benedict XII grantedd him canonicate in the church of Saint-Radegonde, Poitiers. Dean of the chapter of Yrieix. Curé of La Plume, diocese of Condom (now Agen). Curé of Thil. Curé of Sainte-Foy de Peirolières, archdiocese of Toulous. Prior of Arbois, diocese of Thèrouanne. Canon of Saint-Géry, diocese of Cambrai. Archdeacon of Brabant, diocese of Liège. Apostolic notary. Familiar of the pope.

Episcopate. Elected bishop of Paris, September 12, 1349. Consecrated (no information found). Transferred to the see of Auxerre, December 20, 1350. Transferred to the see of Maguelonne, January 30, 1353 (1); resigned the see in January 1354; he went to reside in Avignon.

Cardinalate. Created cardinal priest of Ss.Giovanni e Paolo in the consistory of February 15, 1353; succeeded his uncle in this title. Opted for the order of cardinal bishops and the suburbicarian see of Ostia e Velletri shortly after July 13, 1361. Participated in the conclave of 1362, which elected Pope Urban V. He consecrated Pope Urban V bishop of Rome on November 6, 1362. Dean of the Sacred College of Cardinals. It is said that he founded a hospital in Avignon and a collège in Toulouse.

Death. Wednesday May 10, 1363 (2), Avignon. Buried in the Carthusian monastery in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, next to his uncle the pope (3).
