Birth. (No date or place found), Aragón of a family from Castilla. He is also listed as Gomez d'Aragona. His first name is also listed as Cuncterus; as Guter; as Gutero; as Guterius; as Gontier; and as Gutierre. Relative of Cardinal Pedro Martínez de Luna y Pérez de Gotor (1375), future Antipope Benedict XIII. He was called the Spanish Cardinal.

Early life. Chantre of the cathedral chapter of Compostela. Received the subdiaconate.

Episcopate. Elected bishop of Palencia, February 27, 1357; occupied the see until his promotion to the cardinalate. Consecrated (no information found). He resided in the palace of King Enrique II of Castilla, who through his legates, requested for him the promotion to the cardinalate from Pope Gregory XI in 1378; the pope died shortly after; the new Pope Urban VI granted him the promotion but the bishop declined at the advice of King Juan I of Castilla and joined the obedience of Avignon.

Cardinalate. Created pseudocardinal priest in the consistory of March 19, 1381; by the mediation of Cardinal Pedro Martínez de Luna y Gotor, his relative, now legate in Spain; received the title of Ss. Giovanni e Paolo the following August 27 or when he arrived in the curia of Avignon on May 27, 1382. He visited Queen Maria of Naples on January 7, 1385 in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Legate in Spain.

Death. January 13, 1391, Avignon or Spain. Buried (no information found).
