Birth. July 4, 1677, Naples. Sixth of the seven children of Francesco Maria Carafa, prince of Belvedere and marchis of Anzi, and Giovanna Oliva Grimaldi, of the princes of Gerace. His first name is also listed as Pier Luigi; and as Petrus Aloysius; and his last name as Caraffa. Education. He went to Rome in February 1689 and studied at La Sapienza University, Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in utroque iure, on October 19, 1694.

Participated in the conclave of 1730, which elected Pope Clement XII. Camerlengo of the Sacred College of Cardinals, February 11, 1737 until January 27, 1738. Opted for the title of S. Prisca, December 16, 1737. Protector of the Order Camaldolese in 1739. Participated in the conclave of 1740, which elected Pope Benedict XIV. Opted for the order of cardinal bishops and the suburbicarian see of Albano, September 16, 1740. Sub-dean of the Sacred College of Cardinals. Opted for the suburbicarian see of Porto e Santa Rufina, November 15, 1751, customarily assigned to the sub-dean of the Sacred College of Cardinals. Dean of the Sacred College of Cardinals. Opted for the suburbicarian see of Ostia e Velletri, proper of the dean of the Sacred College of Cardinals, April 9, 1753. He was most generous with the poor.
Death. December 15, 1755, at 8:30 p.m., Rome. Transferred the following day to the church of S. Andrea delle Fratte, Rome, where the capella papalis took place on December 18, 1755; and buried in the chapel of San Francesco di Sales, in that church (2). On the left side of the chapel was erected a monument in his memory with his statue genuflecting before the altar of the saint.

Birth. September 24, 1672, Castel de Preci, diocese of Spoleto (or diocese of Norcia). Of humble parents. Baptized on that same day. His last name is also listed as Accorambonus.
Education. Initial studies with the Jesuits in Spoleto; the at the school of Luca Palma, Preci (economics); later, at the University of Perugia (doctorate in utroque iure, both canon and civil law, May 6, 1694).

Death. March 21, 1747, around 9 p.m. Exposed in the church of S. Ignazio, Rome, where the capella papalis took place on March 23, 1747; and buried in front of the altar of S. Aloisio Gonzaga in that same church. His tombstone, magnificently adorned, has an inscription engraved by his nephew Count Ignazio Accoramboni, counselor to the king of Poland (1).
