Birth. (No date found), in region Arenula, Rome. Son of Giovanni Bobone Orsini. Nephew of Pope Celestine III. The family adopted the name Orsini. He is also listed as Niccolò only; his first name as Uguccione; and his last name as Thieneo and as Tieneo.

Education. (No information found).

Cardinalate. Created cardinal deacon of S. Maria in Cosmedin in the consistory of April or May 1191. Subscribed the papal bulls issued between May 20, 1191 and December 3, 1197; and March 13, 1198 and April 13, 1200. He was present at the canonization of S. Giovanni Gualberto. Participated in the papal election of 1198, in which was elected Pope Innocent III.

Death. Ca. 1200/1201 (no place found). Buried (no information found).

(2) 2. ISOLA, O.S.B.Cas., Roffredo dell' (?-ca. 1212)

Birth. (No date found), Arpino, diocese of Sora. He is also listed as Rofridus de Insula; and his first name as Goffredo and as Rainaldo. He had a brother, Gregorio, sent in 1191 as a hostage to the duke of Spoleto and in 1193 to Germany, to guarantee the loyalty of the family towards the emperor Henry VI. Gregory, thanks to the insistent intervention of Roffredo, was elected bishop of Trani in 1202, but he renounced in the same year, because he did not obtain papal confirmation of his election; and a sister whose name is not known who was married to Erveo, son of Roberto de Apolita, who was name in 1991 castellano of Roccaguglielma.

Education. Entered the Order of Saitn Benedict (Benedictines) Cassinese.

Priesthood. Ordained (no further information found). Elected abbot of Monte Cassino on July 9, 1188; occupied the post until his death.

Cardinalate. Created cardinal priest of Ss. Marcelino e Pietro in the consistory of June 2, 1191. He accompanied to Germany Emperor Heinrich VI, whom he had received in Montecassino; returned to Italy heading an imperial army and freed the lands of the abbey that had been occupied by King Tancredo di Lecce of Sicily. Later, with another army, returned to the pope the territories that had been occupied by Diopoldo, count of Acerra and Spoleto. Participated in the papal election of 1198, in which was elected Pope Innocent III. Legate in Sicily. Received Pope Innocent III in Montecassino on Jne 23, 1206. Primoprete in 1211.

Death. Ca. 1212, (1), Montecassino. Buried in the monastery of Montecassino.

Cardella, Memorie storiche de' cardinali della Santa Romana Chiesa, I, pt. 2, 180, also says that he died in 1212, but adds that other sources say that he died in 1209. Eubel, Hierarchia Catholica Medii Aevi, I, p. 3, note 1, no. 17, indicates, with a question mark, that he died ca. 1200. The list of abbots of Montecassino, linked above says that he died on May 30, 1211.
