(7) 1. BOHIER DU PRAT, O.S.B., Antoine (ca. 1460-1519)

Birth. Ca. 1460, Issoire, Auvergne. Son of Austremoine Bohier, baron of Saint-Ciergue, and Anne Du Prat. His first last name is also listed as Boyer and as Bouchier; and the second as Duprat. Cousin of Cardinal Antoine Du Prat (1527).

Education. Entered the Order of Saint Benedictine (Benedictines) at the abbey of of SS. Trintà of Fécamp, Normandy. (No further educational found).

Priesthood. Ordained (no information found). Abbot of the Benedictine monasteries of SS. Trintà of Fécamp, Normandy; and Saint-Ouen, in Rouen. President of the parlement of Normandy. At the request of the queen mother of François I of France, after declining the promotion for two years, he was elevated to the episcopate.

Episcopate. Elected archbishop of Bourges, November 13, 1514; granted the use of the habit of a secular archbishop instead of the Benedictine, November 22, 1514; occupied the see until his death. Consecrated (no information found).

Cardinalate. Created cardinal priest in the consistory of April 1, 1517; granted the use of the red cardinalitial habit instead of the color of his order, April 27, 1517; received the red hat and the title of S. Anastasia, May 25, 1517; he was aged when promoted to the cardinalate.

Death. November 27, 1519 (1), Blois, where the French court was. Transferred to Bourges and buried in its metropolitan cathedral with an epitaph in verse (2).

(8) 1. CROY, Guillaume III de (1498-1521)

Birth. 1498, Flanders. Second of the eight children of Henri de Croy, count of Porcien, and Charlotte de Chateaubriand. The other siblings were Philippe, Charles (count of Porcean), Charles (bishop of Tournai), Robert, Jacqueline, Charlotte (abbess of Guilbenghien) and Helene. His first name is also listed as Guillermo Jacobo.

Education. Studied in Louvain under Juan Luis de Vives, famous Spanish humanist and philosopher.

Episcopate. Elected bishop of Cambrai at the death of his uncle Jacques de Croy, which occurred on August 15, 1516; with dispensation for being only seventeen years old; never received the episcopal consecration; resigned the government of the diocese in favor of his brother Robert de Croy, August 17, 1519. Abbot commendatario of Afflighem, Malines, from 1516.

Cardinalate. Created cardinal deacon in the consistory of April 1, 1517; received the red hat and the deaconry of S. Maria in Aquiro, May 25, 1517. Named bishop of Coria (1); the appointment did not have effect because shortly after occurred the vacancy of the see of Toledo. Administrator of the metropolitan and primatial see of Toledo, December 31, 1517 until his death; he never visited the see.

Sacred orders. (No information found).

Death. January 6, 1521, while hunting, during the diet of Worms, he fell from a horse and ruptured a vein in his chest. Buried in the church of the monastery of Héverde of the Celestins in Louvain, founded by his father. His tomb is now in the Capuchin church of Enghien, Belgium.
