Birth. September 6 (or 9), 1664, Milan. From a noble and patrician family. Eldest of the three children of Count Filippo Corio and Laura Airoldi, of the counts of Lecco. The other siblings were Ippolita and Antonio. His last name is also listed as Cori; as Corius; as Coirus; and as Cojrus.

Education. Initial studies in Milan; later, he attended the University of Pavia, where he obtained a doctorate in utroeuqe iure, both canon and cicvil law in 1686.

Early life. Member of the College of Lawyers of Milan. In 1694, he went to Rome and became a consistorial lawyer in 1694 and practice for many years. He received several rich benefices. He entered the Roman prelature as referendary and voter of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signature on May 15, 1715. Named auditor of the Sacred Roman Rota on July 3, 1716; and later its dean on September 18, 1733 until 1734. Regent of the Apostolic Penitentiary, December 1733. Governor of Rome and vice-camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, August 6, 1734 until July 15, 1739.

Sacred orders. (No information found).

Cardinalate. Created cardinal deacon in the consistory of July 15, 1739; received the red hat and the deaconry of S. Adriano, September 30, 1739. Participated in the conclave of 1740.

Death. February 20, 1742, at 6:15 a.m., of dropsy, Rome, after a long and painful illness. Exposed in the church of Ss. Ambrogio e Carlo al Corso, dei Milanese, Rome; Pope Benedict XIV participated in his funeral; buried, according to his will, in that same church (1).
