Education. (No information found).

Cardinalate. Created cardinal priest of S. Pudenziana (S. Pastoris) in 1077. On May 4, 1082, he protested against the use of church property for war purposes. He restored his title and had a marble pulpit built; he dedicated the new building of his titular church on July 26, 1085 (1). He subscribed a bull issued by Pope Urban II in favor of the monastery of Ss. Trinità della Cava. Opted for the title of S. Pietro in Vincoli (S. Eudoxiae) toward 1100. On September 30, 1100, together with Cardinal Giovanni of S. Anastasia, he was in Valence (Dauphiné); and on the following November 23, in Poitiers. In the same year, he wrote a letter to Abbot Peter of Chemillé. He sent a further letter, along with Cardinal Giovanni of S. Anastasia, to Pope Paschal II, disavowing him; Cardinal Benedetto withdrew temporarily from the papal curia; however, he is attested back at the Lateran palace on November 3, 1101. Attended the Synod of Guastalla on October 22, 1106. Subscribed a papal bull issued on February 24, 1114. Participated in the papal election of 1118, in which Pope Gelasius II was elected. Subscribed papal bulls issued between January 3, 1121 and June 4, 1124. Participated in the papal election of 1124, in which Pope Honorius II was elected. Subscribed papal bulls issued on May 5, 1125 (?).
